CSR is just not the Social Responsibility of Companies

When we talk about CSR, the first sentence that comes to our mind is the responsibility of Corporates to whom mandatory provisions of the Companies Act, 2013 are applicable. Corporate Social Responsibility is not merely compliance, it is a commitment to support initiatives that measurably improve the lives of the underprivileged. Contribution by Corporates under social responsibility has a significant role in the sustained and faster development of society. So, the businesses that do not require to contribute to CSR mandatorily as per the Companies Act, 2013 should also participate in the Nation Building process.

Hon'ble minister Anurag Singh Thakur's statement "Need to make CSR actionable agenda" truly reflects the vision of the Government of India, as to how the benefits of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) expenditure can reach the needy person of society. The goal of Corporate Social Responsibility can be fulfilled through Individual Social Responsibility. If a person is emotionally attached to his / her social responsibilities, it can transform the way CSR expenditure is incurred for community benefits.

Corporates can ensure engagement of more and more employees in community projects on a rotation basis. When any person is associated with the community, he/she feels more satisfied. If one makes Individual Social Responsibility (ISR) a way of life, then the goal of mandatory CSR provisions can be achieved easily. We can connect mass through ISR and should make it a movement beyond boundaries. As Mahatma Gandhiji said "You must be the change you wish to see in the world.", so we must start ISR from us, from our company and it will not take much time to become a movement.
